What is magical realism?

noun

a literary or artistic genre in which realistic narrative and naturalistic technique are combined with surreal elements of dream or fantasy.

If you’re the child of the 90's or the early 2000's you might know some classical books, childlike show, and movies that show magical realism. One of my favorite books that show's magical realism would be "One hundred years of solitude" this story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the family. The isolated town of Macondo and of the family who founds it, the Buendias. For years, the town has no contact with the outside world, except for gypsies who occasionally visit, peddling technologies like ice and telescopes. The patriarch of the family, Jose Arcadio Buendia, is impulsive and inquisitive. He remains a leader who is also deeply solitary, alienating himself from other men in his obsessive investigations into mysterious matters. through-out the story the character traits are inherited by his descendents throughout the novel. His older child, Jose Arcadio, inherits his vast physical strength and his impetuousness. His younger child, Aureliano, inherits his intense, enigmatic focus. Gradually, the village loses its innocent, solitary state when it establishes contact with other towns in the region.

1. You seem to be assuming Brittany that Zayn Malik  didn't feel like he was meant to be in the band for the past 5 years.

Who do we blame ? Who bears the most responsibility ?

     if you're an average consumer there is a good chance you shop at affordable places like Forever 21 , H&M , Zara , and many other shopping places. But  who bears the most responsibility for ensuring the clothes are ethically manufactured? i believe its everyone's fault because at the end of the day their will be some type of flaw that would happen. i believe it is everyones fault because the workers can't stand up for themselves and if they do they won't be able to take of their families , or they might get abused by their boss. which leads to the people who are actually manufacturing the companies. the bosses are to worked up on the money and not caring really for the factory workers and not how the companies actually are , also  not caring what the consumer has to say about the clothes they are buying and the condition it is in. next i blame the consumers they just care about the clothes and not knowing what type of hardship it has been through. the consumer might know what is going in the factories and put their foot down to what is happening in these  countries and how their pay is going. lastly i blame the state and the people who are letting this happen. i blame these people because they are not paying the factories workers enough and not caring about the state the factories are in. they are very selfish and care about the money they are receiving from the foreign countries they manufacture for.

Have you ever taught about why people like crime or seeking to find someone to blame after a crime is done? well i have! in my essay i will be explaining why people are so entertained with crime and adding a touch of Mosely to it. what drew me to this type of argument is everyday we see on social media , the news , and right in front of our faces a crime and the crime could be so harsh and cruel and people just sit their and watch the crime happen. i maybe could come up with a quick synomptous why people want to watch crime for an entertainment. when you read my essay it might just blow you off your seat while reading knowing why people do this type of thing. i will have you thinking are these people just sick out their mind or do they want to blame someone for posting it when they should be blaming themselves for watching it.

Let's Play A Game : Good Cop , Bad Cop

Sylvia Liken 

A young 16  year old girl named Sylvia Liken was at the breaking point of threats that ended her life at her young age. she was  a young beautiful girl who nobody had a problem with, and people didn't even really know. her parents always had to work so it was just her and her sister. then word came around during the 1960's  about this defensive young girl.their was a vicious lady named Gertrude Baniszewski she was very mean and unforgivable  to the  poor girl Sylvia. she would make people in the neighborhood , and her own children to  shun Sylvia, beat her till she can't take it anymore , and even things you wouldn't imagine a human being could do. Sylvia wasn't able to go back to school anymore  because of a broken wrist . Gertrude Baniszewski daughter Paula ( 17 years old ) broke Sylvia wrist by one punch.Sylvia had tried to escape the hell hole that she was in but she had to stop this master plan that she had because Gertrude Baniszewski made it clear that she didn't want her to leave cause she had a trick up her sleeve if she did try to escape or not :  Gertrude Baniszewski would have blind-folded and dump her body at Jimmy Forest. After serval months Gertrude Baniszewski went to jail and denied all her authorities.  Gertrude Baniszewski was messed up in the head she denied EVERYTHING and blamed her children for doing this crime  to Sylvia. on May 19th 1966 Gertrude Baniszewski was conviced f 1st degree murder , so did her children as well. Gertrude Baniszewski was spared in the death penalty sentenced to life imprisonment. was this really fair ? A young girl died and she made her children take part in this mischievous crime. Sylvia was an innocent girl with a future ahead of her , but was ruined by a women that didn't have reason.

is something Mosley once said. In this modern day society we are so obsessed with crime that we see online , on the news or just crime we see right in front of our faces. what Mosley means by "Forgiveness for our sinful desires and secret tryst for our failure and broken commandments" is we all have done something that was regretful and can't take back but we try to seek forgiveness for the wrongs we have done. your basically guilty of being guilty cause you can't even take back the wrong you have done. a recent crime that had happened  that consisted of gang violence that happened in Brooklyn 'New York in a McDonalds'  during  March of 2015. this was a very big crime that had happened it was showed world wide ! and their were over a dozens of people who saw it and people who video taped it  but nobody had stepped in to help the 15 year old who was almost beat to death. A few days after when this crime was leaked and the reports said that she was hurt badly everyone pitted her even bystanders were just feeling bad that they didn't step in and help this girl and break up this  fight that happened. how this crime would appeal to a reader based on Mosley's argument is people begin to care when someone gets hurt and start thinking what they could have done to prevent this problem from happening. the bystanders in this crime relate back to Mosley's argument "Forgiveness for our sinful desires and secret tryst for our failure and broken commandments" the people (bystanders) in this crime were just yearning for forgiveness to help the girl but they just stood there and watched the girl suffer. people need to take consideration of  other peoples life and not just think about themselves , or think about the what if's .. or could have's.

I i have read a book before when i was in middle school and it was about a high school girl who was a dancer  and she got good grades and she was tight knit to everyone ;and this man ( he was a con man) told the girl that she would be perfect on the big screen. this man told he that over 5000 to millions of people who know who are. of course the girl thought he was a man about his business so she said yes to the deal. the girl friend told he she shouldn't do that because its like a lemon law he didn't have any type of business card stating where he worked or who he worked for. after a couple of  days the girl went missing and nobody knew where she went but her friend ( but the girl said not to tell anyone where she is because the man will kill her and her family or anyone close to her) .towards the end of the book the girl was tricked she got raped and couldn't escape from where she was until her friend came to the rescue because she knew where she was for 6 1/2 months she didn't tell the girls family or anyone until she saw signs around the community looking for a missing girl. why this was interesting  was because knowing you have a friend who didn't say anything after 6 months to her friend being missing says a lot about the person and their actions. knowing if your like a bystander and you know what happened and didn't bother telling anyone she could have got in a lot of trouble. what pulled me into to this story is it thought me a life lesson not to hide anything for anybody because if your in great danger  they could be the ones to help you. also not to talk to stranger because if you tell them your business they could mess up your reputation  and take what is valuable from you.

Blog Post 13 : The End Of Oedipus & The Prophecy .... AND Drama

Welcome Back To My Blog ! Segment 13 : The End Of The Whole Play & Tie It Up 

Based on the lines :1423–1431 and 1462–1547 you can see that their was a lot of terror that happens. we wasn't expected that kind of tragic semi ending in the play. First in the play we can see that Jocasta did something un-bareable! she committed suicide because all of this drama was to much for her to handle. Oedipus walks in and see's his mother/wife just hanging their not knowing what to do. based on this he is just speaking to her/himself. he is basically apologizing for everything that he had caused all he wanted to do was help and making everything go right. Oedipus was determined to do it all and get answers . but that didn't happen all at once the way he wanted ,because he was cooped up with finding out this family affair business. But the curse that the seer was speaking about was true because 1) Oedipus found out that his wife was his mother 2) he will be blind ( because he jabbed his eyes out with Jocasta Brooches ). Oedipus had a lot of self deception in hims self through out this play thats why people pitted him for a lot of thing and why nobody wanted to take him seriously. that was my out-takes for the lines 1423-1431 & 1462-1547.

   Words To Think About:

Self-deception: the action or practice of allowing oneself to believe that a false or unvalidated feeling, idea, or situation is true.







Based on these two words it has a lot of connection to the play and the characters. based on the definition of determination Oedipus wants to put the pieces together to find out whats going on who killed who ; how can this madness be out to an stop , how can the town be saved he is trying to find the resolution to all these things. based on the definition of self-deception it fall more for the characteristic of Jocasta to me and also Oedipus because through out the play we see Jocasta change from this independent woman to this person who is trying too help figure this out for her husband/child. Jocasta doesn't really know what she is growing into because she runs out of the temple because she doesn't know whats really going or why she is really doing this. how this definition represents Oedipus is from the start of the play he was this person who doesn't believe it until he see's it ( or until someone saying "HEY DUDE PAY ATTENTION ITS TRUE " )  he changed from that to a non-jerk face to a nice sweet person who wants to help making everything goes right because he wants to find the truth.

Words To Think About: In Greek Mythology 

• Prophecy: A Prophet or Prediction

Who is Sophocles ? he isn't in this story matter of fact he is not even a character   because is basically the author and creator of this dramatic twisted story. Throughout the story Sophocles establishes these things about Oedipus and the towns people it started off like this .... because Oedipus was this played back , laid back type of king but theirs a lot of drama and with this drama he didn't know what was going on. But now putting the pieces together based on Oedipus sad  back round he wasn't a king before that  he was running away from something that was bothering him utterly. But what the relationship Sophocles establishes  between Oedipus and the prophecy actions is that Sophocles makes Oedipus this dramatic king who goes through a lot of irony because you would have thought since he is a king everything would go so well for him but it it the total opposite of it. Oedipus wanted to help his Prophecies but with all this drama he can't even focus on them and with these actions. Oedipus fails to know what to do  he is trying to balance work for his town and the prophecies but he by doing this job trying to "help" he ends up finding out these things and gets more worried about that then actually trying to figure out whats going on ( but that clearly doesn't work) The prophecy can't really have any actions into this because they are oblivious to even  speak up to whats going on because they think Oedipus is this all mighty king and everything will go back to pretty flowers and sunshines. But with that people are dying, mothers aren't having their children ... its basically a big mess in this story.

What will happen to the prophecy ? will Oedipus ever help his town & find out the truth ?

          Brother in law .vs. in denial  king 

Based on the actions of Oedipus he is making false accusations about Creon.He isn't letting Creon state his point on what happened that day between Tereseias and what was REALLY going on. whatever Oedipus says you cant disagree. ( which clearly shows that when you do tell him the truth he goes really crazy. Creon on the other hand just went be hide his brother in law back and started talking about him. that was such a betrayal.Oedipus has a right to be a little mad because if you are family you need to stick together not go and talk be hide your families back. but on that hand Oedipus wasn't all that right because you should listen to what that person has to say then you could state your point , curse them out , etc. all together both Oedipus and Creon are handling this situation childishly they both are grown and could have found another way to handle to situation and have a happy ending ( but all know that isn't going to happen)

Who is Creon// whats going on between Oedipus and Creon;

1. Creon is the oldest of Oedipus and Jocostas children.
2. he is a somewhat wise person
3. he HAD a lot of respect for his little brother Oedipus 
4. Oedipus got really upset with Creon because he thinks that Creon took sides with the seer (Teiresias) because Oedipus doesn't know if this seer guy is a fraud. 
5. Creon is feeling a type of way because he thought that him and Oedipus were cool but after Oedipus just came up to the palace and said what he had to say and didn't let Creon state his point!

                                     
What Will Happen To Creon , The Chorus , & Oedipus

Based on lines  626-628 you could see that Oedipus wasn't to pleased to have an encounter-ment with Creon. as stated in the document it states that Oedipus said that "There's one thing you do not have to tell me - that you have not done wrong" based on this line you could see that based on the news that Oedipus received he thinks that Creon has something to do with it and everyone (the chorus) doesn't know whats going on ( such as knowing whether or not Oedipus knows whats going on to stop this madness in the town , who killed the king, and will their be any good to come ). The chorus attitude  change because they start to grow this huge confusion on whats going on and suspcsion because they don't know whats going because Oedipus doesn't know what to tell these people because he is still trying to figure out whats going on.

             Who Is Teiresias?

•  he is a really old guy
• he is blind
• he is a seer
• he could see what the "future holds" 
• he doesn't fancy Oedipus 
• he is rude
• he might be blind be he could hear everything 
• his lips are moving 
• wise man

 according to the seer Teiresias what Oedipus could see is lies. because Oedipus doesn't believe what This seer has to say because  he has no proof he is a bin man and he can't even be a witness to what happened.however what Oedipus soon finds out that he has no idea who he actually is and thats all Teriresia testes Oedipus patience in the beginning (telling him whats the deal , and saying he can't handle the truth YIKES !) further on Oedipus does some investigations on the death of king Laius ( but this could be his down fall that the " seer was trying to tell Oedipus all along). what this might suggest about how Teiresias understands Oedipus authority as king is he doesn't want the town people to turn their back on him because he has to be the one to save their lives again for the second time.when Apollo's word came back (lines 460) he might still have left the murder of Laius...

Based on the reading (lines 131-171)what Oedipus had vowed in avenging the former king Laius is that Oedipus was so arrogant. what showed this was in lines 160  he didn't know who killed King Laius ( or really who he was he just knew he was a king and Jocostas Ex ). But it seemed like he just confessed on killing King Laius. it states that 

"... that Apollo demonstrates his care for the dead man and worthy of you too" which clearly means what ever trick that Oedipus try to pull of will come right back to him sooner or later. But he vowed to find out who killed the king and put an end to this madness this could be found in the passage lines. 160-170.

Where Have You Seen A Character Like Oedipus Before? 

i have seen a character like Oedipus in real life and in a book that i was reading call "Princess In the spot light". i have seen a person like Oedipus back when i was in middle school and she was like miss popular ( really ) and she had a brother too and she would black mail people because she had did a favor for one of my good mates and due to that favor ( it was a big favor : copying her math homework) that she had done. she had helped my mate with this huge favor. Next its the new semester miss popular made someone do her dirty work on doing her science homework because the science teacher was really strict ( he would give you a big fat zero in front of your face and in front of the whole class. but of course she got what she  wanted. In the book "Princess In the spot light" the protagonist  soon to be step father was just like oedipus he was about to be a king because the  protagonist mother husband died and she was looking for love instead of a riddle the man won her heart kinda like love at first sight (no pun intended : Romeo and Juliet). but this man was just so unbearable he was so lazy and you tell him to do something he will do it but he will make someone else do it and then he would take credit for it.

Today noting exciting happened ( noting new ). it was quite and i was just keeping up with my reading. i did a last look over at my winter-break work that i was assigned. i went on my social medias and watched youtube videos for the rest of the day and that pretty much sums up my winter break. its Sunday and its pretty much a"family night" cause everyone is in the living room watching "The Walking Dead" ( our favorite show to watch on Sunday. That sums up my mid winter break at home.

Well It All Started Like This:

Well Winter Break Is Coming To An End And I'm Certainly Not Ready To Go Back To School... But It Was A Productive Week I Went Shopping Cause Spring Time Is Coming And High School *COUGH COUGH* (Cobble Hill) Is Like A Run Way You Have To Dress To Impress (i just went to American Apparel, forever 21 , urban outfitters , BBW  ..ETC ) ... Next I Kinda Sorta Went To NYC Fashion Week And It Was Absolutely AMAZING!!!! ( that a totally other story to tell soon)

i have been saving up to buy a new book series and its AFTER BY ANNA TODD i am planning to buy the last two book in the series and theirs a lot of drama i think in the next book. coming towards the end of the week it was me  just being plain lazy being in bed for half the day on twitter , snapchat, and Instagram.i was over it going outside and getting fresh air cause it was cold ☁⛄ and i didn't feel like getting a frost bite.  instead i was in my onesie being cozy under my bed covers. i was watching Vampire diaries on Netflix with my sister. And the best thing happened Friday ( Feb 20 ) two famous beauty guru's on youtube noticed my edits that i made on Instagram ( like fan edits ) that was the best day i guess out of the week cause i was on #fan girl mode (0-100 real quick as typical teens would say). But that how my week was noting grand just a typical week.

Saturday....

Saturdays... this wasn't a ordinary Saturday. this Saturday is hard to describe or its just un-descriable. it was full of long naps , no homework , no public transportation , just me ,myself , and my big queen size bed. it was just me and Netflix all day long and of course breakfast in bed. but UNTIL my wifi stopped working. i tried to do my homework for the break and i guess it was just not meant for me to do it today. maybe it was a sign from the heavens above not to do my packets and projects today and just be focused on me. I mean it was a long school week and i was waiting  for this week to be over.
other then that it was a super chilled day , the wifi was fixed , and my homework is 77% done...

Todays Segment Is Giving Non-living Things Human Actions. My mac book Pro  is the sweetest ,smartest thing in the whole world. it keeps me Company When I'm Sad Or Bored. It Keeps Me Entertained when i need a laugh or too and most of all it always keeps me busy. my mac helps me like a math tutor and reads to me like my mom reading me a lullaby. My mac is pretty much my best friend who isn't really that annoying. most of the time my mac would get me Vexed to the point when i want to just throw it out the window. Sometimes it would just go so slow like a old grandma with a cane crossing the road. other than that my mac is basically the main defination of a teenaged girl best friend.
